Description
This handcrafted mineral pigment painting was uniquely created on beautifully polished birch wood. The process begins with me carefully sanding and polishing the wood to prepare it for the journey ahead.
Once the wood is ready, I begin a careful application of intricate patterns to define the negative space and guide the placement of each color.
The pigments, which are personally crushed and mixed from various natural minerals, elements, and stones, are then gently dabbed onto the wood and rubbed deep into the grain by hand. This method allows the colors to merge harmoniously with the birch’s texture, creating a natural and seamless fusion of color and wood.
The application process is a painstaking endeavor, often extending over several hours or days, resulting in a vivid and dynamic interplay of colors. A final spray of adhesive fixative ensures the longevity and intensity of the hues. Each artwork is a celebration of the natural world’s palette, a singular expression of my artistic vision and the unique character of its medium.
